There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to the art of ranking in Google. Ask ten different marketers how long it takes on average for a page to appear in Google search results, and you’ll get ten different responses. Luckily, an Ahrefs study may be able to give you a more concrete answer.
The Ahrefs team first took 2 million random keywords and pulled data on the top 10 ranking pages for each one. Once they analyzed the data, it turned out that an average top 10 ranking page is over 2 years old, while an average first-ranked page is around 3 years old. According to the Ahrefs study, “old” pages dominate the Google search results pages. In fact, only 22% of pages that currently rank in the top 10 were created within 1 year.
Clearly, there a number of factors that come into play when it comes to the amount of time it takes for a page to rank in Google. While there is no one-size-fits-all answer, the detailed study carried out by Ahrefs has painted a clearer picture for website owners.
