SEC Climate Disclosure Deep Dive

On March 21st 2022, the SEC climate disclosure proposal was passed, which is a rule that would require publicly listed companies to include certain climate related information in their registration statements and periodic reports. It was agreed that GHG Scope 1 and Scope 2 data would be required as well as limited Scope 3. The proposed disclosures are similar to those that many companies already provide based on broadly accepted frameworks such as the Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
