Conducting Pay Equity Analyses for SSEGs Too Small for Regression Analysis

This paper will discuss how to conduct pay equity analyses for similarly situated employee groupings (SSEGs) too small for regression analysis.

The paper will begin with a discussion of common small group statistical tests (e.g., Fisher’s exact test, rank sum test), introduce a new method – Cohort Ratio Comparison (CRC) – that can be used on very small SSEGs, and conclude with a discussion of how the CRC can be used to evaluate potential systemic gender and race/ethnicity differences across these small groups rather than just within individual small groups.
