From Compliance to Sustainability: Nucor & Trinity Consultants Facilitate Environmental Impact in Steel Manufacturing

The project commenced when Nucor partnered with Trinity Consultants’ Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) team to produce an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) aligned with the State of California’s Buy Clean California Act (BCCA). This act established stringent embodied carbon limits for key materials used in state infrastructure projects.

Trinity’s engineers, well-versed in the steel manufacturing sector, collaborated closely with Nucor to identify essential data sources and create complex calculations where information was limited, ensuring the validity of the Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). 

The successful compliance with Buy Clean California Act (BCCA) requirements in May 2022 not only solidified Nucor’s position as a sustainable manufacturing entity, but also laid the foundation for an ongoing partnership with Trinity Consultants.
