The Engineering Workforce Problem: Doing More with No More

According to a 2010 Pew research study, roughly 10,000 Baby Boomers will turn 65 every day for the next 18 years. This increase in retirees means the skilled engineering workforce that companies have depended on will leave behind more openings than there are people to fill them. In December 2012, Aberdeen conducted research into the state of the engineering and technical workforce and found out a majority of the 526 companies polled (over 60%) feel understaffed in their engineering positions.
