The Importance of an Implementation Lead within FSP Models

Functional service partnerships (FSPs) are largely separated into two groups of models: those based on a percentage of work completed, driven by a number of units; and those based on resources partially or fully dedicated to a client. Implementing a dedicated resource model, when the scope and volume of work is significant, requires an investment both from the functional service partnership provider — such as PPD — and the customer, to set expectations and align on processes and timelines. To drive efficiency, PPD adopted the role of an Implementation Lead (IL), whose responsibility is to manage these early efforts and then coordinate the identification, allocation and onboarding of resources. The innovative design of the IL role enables a seamless onboarding into PPD’s Functional Service Partnership (FSP) engagements and keeps projects a step ahead.
