Communications service providers (CSPs) perceive hyperscalers as potential partners. CSPs are beginning to partner with hyperscalers across the edge value chain. CSPs choose whom to partner with for different benefits, like strength of cloud platforms and accelerating go-to-market. However, CSPs are worried about relying heavily on hyperscalers, particularly for network functions at the edge. A few of the main disadvantages include the threat of disrupting CSP core business, reduction of overall revenue, and limited telco differentiation.
