Tips for Picking the Right VoiP Phone System in 2016

Business-Phone

In this day and age, it may seem like speaking to someone over the phone is becoming less and less important – especially when you consider all of the other, simpler ways that you can now communicate (email, text messaging, social media, etc.). However, having the chance to speak and connect with someone personally – as opposed to yelling into an automated system – can really make the difference if you want to boost business and overall sales. VoIP offers great value and simplicity when it comes to purchasing a new business phone system. When researching and ultimately implementing a VoIP phone system, make sure that you keep the following things in mind…

Budget / Vendors / Needs

What can your current infrastructure do, and what do you need it do in the future? How well do you and your employees know all of the features of your phone system? You might be surprised to find out how little you and your co-workers know about the system you are implementing. You’ll also need to know who to work with (preferably in the area) to replace your current system, and who can ultimately stay within your budget. Find out how many calls you take (outgoing and incoming), how often those calls translate into sales… Paying attention to which products and services that can use more attention via telemarketing. Conferencing, place holding (calling back when an employee is available rather than making the caller wait) and smarter phone tree solutions can all be exceptionally smart tools to utilize.

Training & Support

We all know what it’s like to have a fancy machine, and only understand the most basic features of it. Besides handing over an inch-thick manual, your vendor should be able to give you direct and relatively simple instructions as to how everything works. They should also be readily available if you need additional support; should something break down or you need a refresher. Look to people who already service your competitors, as they should be familiar with what you’re trying to accomplish, and better prepared to help you along the way.
