Nine out of ten American adults say the United States is going through a “mental health crisis.”* This crisis has prompted a wave of innovation to improve behavioral health access. However, behavioral health providers say applying these innovations with their patients is complex and challenging.  

What technologies are mental health clinicians using most to expand access to care? What innovations have proven most successful — and what needs improvement?   

We surveyed mental health providers to learn their attitudes and preferences around digital access technology like online scheduling and telehealth. Our findings reveal the benefits and barriers to improving access to behavioral health.
